Gintaras is a Lithuanian artist, still engaged with his studies in Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, the Department of Photography and Media Art. Although standing in the very beginning of his career, his artistic practice plays with the classical rhetoric of old-school conceptual art. The visual vocabulary of Gintaras' work mixes text and image with approaches of institutional critique and modest but at the same time very present personal positions.
The piece You are the mirror is a pile of super glossy postcards with a short message inside. Placed in a empty room, the minimal takeaway postcard addresses the viewer directly and personally: You are the mirror. Presented simply in the box, it might be seen as a subtle message that programs the viewer for the show, or something that becomes totally transparent and will be forgotten.
