JUOZAS LAIVYS
1976 Rietavas. Lives in Narvaishiai
Air. Installation, 2007
Although having a background in sculpture making, Juozas works mostly with ideas. His artistic practice is witty and varies from postcard collections to installations. In addition he has a great sense of humour.
In Consequences and Proposals, Juozas presents in his words: "a modest immaterial conceptual art work" titled Air. He presents air from Triangle centre in Marseilles, where he took part of an exhibition before coming to Tallinn. Bringing air from Triangle centre to Rüütelkonna building is just an episode in a bigger ongoing air exchange project, where the artist is smuggling air from one art institution to another. The conceptual work is metaphorical and refers to the traffic of artists and atmospheres, of something fresh and cool.
